VORONOI is a sculptural collection born from the encounter between ritual and technological innovation. Composed of six independent vessels in 3D-printed pure brass , the work invites us to explore balance as a creative practice, transforming a simple gesture into a contemplative and participatory experience.
The inspiration is rooted in the ancient Eastern art of stone balancing , the construction of vertical structures through the patient balancing of stones along waterways and natural landscapes. In this practice, achieving balance is not a result, but a process of observation, listening, and presence. VORONOI embraces this legacy, translating it into a contemporary language of matter, gravity, and relationship.
Each element is conceived as an autonomous volume, characterized by a faceted geometry reminiscent of Voronoi structures, a recurring spatial organization scheme in nature, present both in the veins of leaves and in the microscopic configurations of matter. The surfaces, sculpted by light and the reflection of the brass, give the composition a monolithic yet dynamic presence.
Created using Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology, VORONOI represents the world's first collection of objects produced using 3D printing in pure brass . This production innovation allows for the exploration of new expressive possibilities of the material, while preserving its density, warmth, and visual depth.
An internal system of magnets facilitates the vertical aggregation of the elements, allowing for infinite configurations and inviting the user to continually experiment with new arrangements. Each composition is the result of time, trial and error, and intuition; every balance achieved is temporary, ready to be challenged again.
Between functional object and interactive sculpture, VORONOI inhabits the boundary between play and meditation , between technological precision and human gesture. A work that transforms the search for balance into an aesthetic experience, restoring value to the time of observation and discovery.
Presented at the Salone del Mobile.Milano and at Galleria Rossana Orlandi during Milan Design Week 2024, VORONOI was awarded the SaloneSatellite Award 2024.
