WHY EGOUNDESIGN?

Behind every name there is a story and that of EGOUNDESIGN is not just a play on words or a random choice. It is a manifesto of our vision, a tribute to our values ​​and a reflection of our mission. The reason for this name remains for many a mystery worthy of Piero Angela's Noos but a certain interest of some of us in toponymy has finally led us to shed light on why our brand is called that.


EGO – not a personal issue, but a people issue

When we founded EGOUNDESIGN in 2020, we were four young entrepreneurs with big dreams and a common purpose: to work in beauty, to create beauty, to give life to products that combine technology, tradition and freshness. Our starting point has always been the idea of ​​placing the creative process at the centre of the person, the individual with his or her own passions, ideas, requests and goals.

From here we wanted the word "ego" represent our brand: not as a standard-bearer of our four individualities, but as a universal sign in which everyone can recognize themselves, their creativity and their daily life.

For us the ego is not protagonism, but authenticity and listening. We are talking about a design approach that starts from opening up to the Other with essential curiosity to discover its values ​​and its truth, then translating them into a project that speaks of the customer's, company's or end-user's ego.


UNDESIGN – looking around to do something else

Se EGO represents the human and personal heart of our studio, UNDESIGN it is the creative, irreverent and tireless mind. It is looking around to know what exists and find other solutions, it is challenging the patterns and overcoming them, it is looking at a common object and asking: “What if it were different? What if it could do more, with less?”

For us, UNDESIGN means creating the unconventional, theunconventional design, where usually only the habit is seen.

But UNDESIGN is also a play on words: on the one hand the crasis unconventional+design represents an alternative and experimental approach; on the other, a simpler and more universal reading, “a design”, where “un” is the indefinite article. What we have always wanted to do is not just any design, or THE selective design, but a unique, engaging design, designed for everyone.


EGO + UNDESIGN = EGOUNDESIGN

That's why we call ourselves that: our name is the synthesis of our philosophy. EGO represents people, their uniqueness and their values; UNDESIGN It is our method for creating what was not there, identifying and breaking to rewrite.

We would not like to simply design objects but to give shape to experiences that speak to people, speak about people and improve their daily lives.
