The portfolio shouldn't be the place where projects end.

They taught us how to make portfolios.
Select the best projects.
Fix the renderings.
Redo that table that now seems terrible to you.
Write a few lines about the concept.

Done. And then?
It's a question we asked ourselves while looking at many portfolios of young designers.
Inside are interesting objects. Ideas that work. Theses developed over months. Prototypes actually built. Projects that have passed four revisions, the night before delivery, and at least one "I'd just make one small change . "
Then college ends.
The project enters the portfolio.
And often his story ends exactly there.
A good project is not yet a product
It's not necessarily a quality issue.
Designing something and actually producing it are two very different jobs.
Between a render and an object someone can actually buy there is engineering, prototypes, errors, materials, testing, costs, machines, suppliers, packaging, minimum quantities, communication, distribution.
An unphotogenic amount of stuff.
And it is difficult to expect a designer at the beginning of his career to simultaneously have a good idea, the skills to develop it, the means to produce it and a structure to sell it.
Then a strange thing happens.
We continue to design new items to add to the portfolio, while some of the ones already in it perhaps simply deserve to be removed.
So we decided to open the portfolios
Not to hire someone. Not to assign a brief. Not even to organize yet another design exercise.
We want to see what you've already drawn.
The thesis one.
The one developed during a course.
The personal one you prototyped once and then left there.
The one you keep putting in your portfolio because, two years later, you still think it's a good idea.
This is the origin of
DON'T LEAVE IT IN YOUR PORTFOLIO
EGOUNDESIGN's Open Call is dedicated to designers, students, and recent graduates with a project that has never reached production.
The idea is simple:
You bring the project. We bring the means to make it real.
It could be the thesis.
A concept you've been developing for months.
A prototype that works but you never figured out how to produce.
Or simply that project that, every time you update your portfolio, you continue to keep inside.
It doesn't have to be ready. It has to be interesting.
We are not looking for products that have already been solved.
We're looking for good ideas that still have something to say outside of a PDF.
Small everyday objects, stationery, desk objects, accessories. Objects we can take, study, prototype, modify, and try to transform into something real.
The project may still be a concept, may already have a prototype, or may have some problems to solve.
From PDF to product
If we choose to move forward together, the project ceases to be just yours to develop alone.
EGOUNDESIGN provides development, prototyping, production and everything you need to try to bring it to market.
You had the idea, while we try to give it what is often missing after the last revision: the means to make it exist.
And if it works? Your name stays on the project.
Designed by [your name]. Curated by EGOUNDESIGN.
And you participate in sales through a royalty.
Because we are not looking for projects to take on.
We're looking for designers to make them happen.
Maybe it's already in your portfolio
So don't plan anything new.
But open your portfolio, scroll through a few pages and stop on that project you keep hanging around, the one you've already thought about at least once:
It's a shame it remained just a project.
Here, send us that! With some information. A PDF. And then we'll take care of it.
DON'T LEAVE IT IN YOUR PORTFOLIO.
